Marc Michael Penrod

One of my favorite things about Marc was that we could turn absolutely anything into a good time. And I mean ANYTHING. 😂😂😂

We had this ongoing thing about “Man Math” versus “Girl Math,” and somehow even taking a shower could turn into a ridiculous debate about which one of us made more sense.

We’d go back and forth, giving each other shit, each of us absolutely convinced we were right.. and Marc had this way of looking at me, half amused and half wondering what the hell he’d gotten himself into. 😂😂😂

He’d finally hit me with his famous, “Are you done?” ..aaand if you know me, you already know the answer to that question was absolutely fucking not. 😂

That was us, though.

We weren’t just two people in love. We were genuinely best friends. We teased each other relentlessly, laughed at the stupidest things, and could spend hours together doing absolutely nothing and still have the best time.

What made Marc so special to me was how comfortable he made love feel. I never had to pretend to be someone else or tone down my personality. He knew exactly who I was, smart mouth and all, and loved every bit of it.

..aaand even after all the teasing and ridiculous conversations, he’d still look at me with that smile in his eyes and tell me how beautiful I was.

I think people sometimes forget that when someone dies by suicide, there’s an entire lifetime of memories that existed before that final moment.

Marc wasn’t just someone who struggled. He was someone who laughed, loved, joked, dreamed, and made plans. He was someone’s favorite person.

He was mine.

When you say his name, I hope you picture a man laughing with the woman he loved over something completely ridiculous.

Because that’s the Marc I knew. That’s the Marc I fell in love with.

aaand that’s the Marc I want the world to remember.

Marc Michael Penrod.
